Dear Friends,
Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice is upon us. Marking the seasonal and celestial turning of The Wheel is meaningful to many of us in ways that seem to draw on ancient pathways of knowing and relating to the natural world—connecting me to something beyond myself, my daily existence in a busy and demanding world. It is a ‘still point’. A time of quiet contemplation and personal ritual, as I set out to watch the sunrise and greet the coming season.
There is something ancient and essential in the human desire for ritual—a quiet knowing that we are meant to mark the turning of time with presence and intention. Ritual grounds us in the here and now, offering shape and meaning to the formless flow of our days. Whether it’s lighting a candle, watching a sunrise, or simply breathing with awareness, simple rituals can invite us to remember that we are part of something larger: the cycles of nature, the unfolding of life, the rhythm of our own becoming. In a world that often rushes forward, ritual gently says: pause, notice, belong.
At the Summer Solstice, we can celebrate abundance, growth, and the radiant energy of the sun. It is a time for outward expression, joy, and gratitude for the fullness of life.
For the Winter Solstice, we might honour the depth of rest, inner reflection, and the return of the light. A time for quiet, clarity, and gentle renewal.
Wherever you find yourself as this Solstice season, we invite you to pause and notice the still point this time brings. We’ve created a little journal of reflection prompts and suggestions for a simple solstice ritual. Just click this link to make a personal copy that you can edit.
We hope you enjoy these prompts, conversation starters, or quiet meditations in the days around the Solstice.
